On July 5th 2006, the Venezuela Solidarity Network (VSN) launched a public campaign to stop the distribution of the video game “Mercenaries 2: World in Flames”, the game that depicts the virtual invasion of Venezuela, the overthrow of the government, the destruction of major Venezuelan cities and rural areas, and the takeover of the oil industry. The public campaign was launched after there was no response from the game producer (Pandemic Studios) or from Bono of U2 and his investment company, Elevation Partners, the company that has invested $300 million in Pandemic Studios.

How can bono be behind this mercenaries 2 propoganda game and perform songs like “mothers of the dissapeared” or “bullet the blue sky” “one tree hill” or denouncing Pinochet? how is this possible? I can only conclude that Bono is not naive, rather is fully imformed and has had a change of position. If that is the case, we must put his feet to the fire publicly and expose him.

  2. John P. Wentland Says:

Such a video game is a cause for shame for all those involved in its production and distribution. I am appalled that there is no response from the producers. Were such a game to be devised using the U.S. as the object of attack, you can bet the U.S. State Department would come down with all its might on production calling for its withdrawal from the market.
