U.S. government officials and other high-profile individuals repeatedly portray the overwhelmingly popular and democratically-elected government of Hugo Chavez as a dictatorship and a “negative force in the region”. The U.S. government has even attempted to overthrow the Chavez government. At each provocation, the workers, peasants, and poor of Venezuela have mobilized by the millions to defend themselves. The Venezuelan people have a sovereign right to determine their own destiny without foreign interference.
